Monday, February 09, 2009 Winter Tires Mandatory in November?
According to French Canadian TV network TVA, the Quebec government could make winter tires mandatory as early as November 15 next fall. Last fall, winter tires were mandatory starting December 15, but that was because the law was new and its application was not perfectly organised. Transport minister Julie Boulet expressed the intention to make winter tires mandatory earlier for motorists’ safety as we all know that snow does not wait for December to fall. But in an interview on TVA, she also confirmed that she was waiting this year’s final report before making any decision. She also denied that the decision was not to gain any savings on road abrasives. (ED)
