Vredestein Sold to Apollo

Dutch tire maker Vredestein, which was part of the bankrupt Dutch-Russian holding Amtel-Vredestein, has been acquired by India’s Apollo Tyres. The deal was first initiated last November and was approved last week by a Dutch bankruptcy court judge. This will give the Indian tire maker an entry to the European market. Vredestein is also present in North America under its own brand name and under the Maloya brand of tires. Vredestein has only one plant in Enschede, Netherlands with an annual capacity of 5.5 millions tires, mostly performance products. (ED)
