Friday, January 22, 2010 Transport Canada May Test Safety of N.B. School Bus Tires
According to the CBC, Transport Canada is considering testing the safety of the tire configuration used on the vehicles that transport New Brunswick students to their extracurricular activities. That is what the province announced last week following the demand of some of the mothers of the Bathurst High School basketball players killed in a crash two years ago. The mothers have been lobbying for independent testing as they contend New Brunswick’s current policy that allows ribbed all-season tires on the front of the vans and winter tires on the back, a policy based on the recommendation of tire companies according to Roland Haché, Education Minister who also says he will abide by the results of any Transport Canada testing.
