Toyo’s M154 Receives SmartWay Approval

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) has approved Toyo’s M154 steer-axle truck tire to be SmartWay compliant if it is used with the same brand’s M657 drive and M127 trailer tires. The five-rib M154 is designed for regional application and, by being SmartWay verified, becomes the second steer axle tire to be verified by SmartWay thus joining its long-haul companion, the M137. Built with Toyo’s “e-balance” technology—composed of a stiffer belt package, stiffer bead construction and optimization through simulation technology—this tire should get better tire life, irregular wear resistance, and reduced fuel consumption. Technically speaking, the M154 has 22/32-inch tread depth. (ED)
