Three Toyo Tires Obtain EPA SmartWay Label

Japanese tire maker Toyo Tire has obtained from the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) the SmartWay certification for three of its truck tires, the M137 steer tire, the M127 free rolling tire for trailer axles, and the M657 drive tire, a product that will soon be marketed in North America. The SmartWay program identifies products and services that reduce emissions related to transportation. The M137 and M657 use Toyo’s “e-balance” technology that includes a stiffer belt package, a stiffer bead construction and optimization through simulation technology all leading to longer tire life, improved irregular wear resistance, and, obviously, improved fuel consumption.
