P Zero Yellow Debuts in Abu Dhabi; Lewis Hamilton wins

As part of its preparation for the 2012 season, Pirelli gave a new experimental version of the P Zero Yellow soft tire its debut during the two free practice sessions at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix.

Drivers were allocated an extra two sets of the experimental soft compound tire, which sits in between the current soft and the current supersoft. The P Zero Yellow soft is expected to last for around 20 laps at the race, with the P Zero White medium tire lasting for around 30 laps.

Lewis Hamilton took his third win of the season in Abu Dhabi using Pirelli’s P Zero tires, running a two-stop strategy with two stints on the P Zero Yellow soft tire followed by a single stint on the P Zero White medium. Hamilton claimed the 17th win of his career, having previously won in China and Germany this year.
