Tuesday, November 30, 2010 Michelin to debut Pilot Super Sport UHP tire
 Michelin North America reports its Michelin Pilot Super Sport ultra-high performance tire will be availabe for sale in January 2011 in 31 sizes ranging from 18 to 22 inches in diameter.
The tire was designed for a wide range of vehicles from sports cars to sedans with technology derived from the company's racing experience.
It incorporates Michelin'sTwaron fiber belt and a Bi-Compound tread band that uses different rubber compounds for the left and right sides of the tire. The outside uses carbon black elastomer for endurance while the inside uses high-grip elastomer for breaking through water on the road surface. The tire's Variable Contact Patcn 2.0 technology ensures that pressure and temperature are spread evenly across the contact patch to keep constant contact on the road surface.
The Michelin Pilot Super Sport is replacing the Michelin Pilot Sport PS2, which was certified as original equipment on more than 200 vehicles.
