Michelin, Cooper or Pirelli in F1

According to Milan’s Il Giornale newspaper, Pirelli would like to start manufacturing Formula 1 tires on condition that Michelin’s proposal to increase the diameter of the F1 tires is accepted in order that they fit 18” wheels (presently, F1 wheels are 13” in diameter).

Cooper Tire, via Avon Tyres, has also been approached to supply F1 teams.

This three-way tug of war follows the announcement by Bridgestone to abandon F1 at the end of the current season, after being the unique supplier since 2007.
