Friday, October 02, 2009 Goodyear to Test a New Tire
Goodyear, the sole supplier to NASCAR, will be testing a new larger tire at Richmond International Speedway. The prototype tire will run on 17-inch wheels and will be one-and-a-half-inch wider and higher to provide a larger contact patch on the track in order to offer better handling and more grip. The test car will be provided by Roush Fenway Racing and it will be modified for the test. Goodyear will also return for further testing at Daytona International Speedway on November 2, where the company hopes to attract 20 to 25 cars to test the feel of drafting. (ED)
