Monday, June 08, 2009 Goodyear Testing at Indianapolis
American tire manufacturer Goodyear, who is the sole supplier of racing tires for NASCAR’s main series, undertook major testing early in June at the famed Indianapolis Motor Speedway. Indeed, last year in July, Goodyear’s racing Eagle tires lasted only a few laps before coming apart. Not wanting the go through the same process at the next Allstate 400 NASCAR Sprint Cup race, Goodyear asked nine teams to participate in the testing with such drivers as Greg Biffle, Jeff Burton, Bill Elliott, Tony Stewart and many more including Canadian Patrick Carpentier. Results were satisfying for Goodyear since several cars were able to make more than 30-lap runs. A final confirmation test will be held on June 15-16. (ED)
