Drive Over RFID Reader System for Trucks and Buses

Advanced ID Corporation, a developer of RFID solutions for supply chain applications, fleet operations, animal tracking and tire management announces that the company has designed a Drive Over RFID reader system for trucks and buses.

RFID tags in commercial tires have been an emerging market over the last five years because of the value of tire asset management in fleet operations. The third largest cost item of running a truck fleet is tires. The difficulties of reading all the tires of an eighteen-wheel truck and trailer assembly are enormous and have prevented more widespread use of the RFID application. The labor involved in using a hand held reader to manually read every tire, especially the inner tires of a dual wheel setup, is prohibitive.

Advanced ID has partnered with major tire manufacturers to develop a workable reader system at an acceptable price. The result is a reader system where trucks can drive over an RFID reader infrastructure at one or two miles an hour and all 18 wheels are read. The information captured by the reader system is then sent to a laptop, server, PDA or other data collection device using our information management system.
