Bridgestone Canada unveiled a few days ago its plans to invest some $38 million US over the next three years in its Joliette, Quebec car and light truck tire plant in order to modernize the facility and improve productivity. The Quebec government will be contributing $4.6 million to the project. The modernization involves new machinery and whatever is needed to improve not only productivity but also safety and environmental aspects of the 44-year old plant which specializes in low-profile, large-diameter tires. The Joliette plant employs 1,200 and produces around 15,800 tires a day. (ED)
