Monday, January 25, 2010 Bridgestone Contributes to Haitian Relief Effort
Japanese manufacturer Bridgestone and its American subsidiaries Bridgestone Americas and Bridgestone de Costa Rica S.A. have announced they will contribute $77,000 U.S. to the relief efforts in Haiti following the Jan. 12 earthquake. Broken down, this means that Bridgestone itself in Japan will contribute 2.5 million yens (some $27,000 U.S.) to the Japanese Red Cross Society while Bridgestone Americas will contribute $25,000 to the Clinton Bush Haiti Fund and Bridgestone de Costa Rica will, in its case, contribute $25,000 to Habitat for Humanity International to rebuild homes in Haiti. A year ago, Costa Rica experienced a similar earthquake. (ED)
