Bridgestone Breaks Ground on Its New Akron Tech Centre



Bridgestone Americas Tire Operations LLC (BATO) broke ground last February 18 on its $100 million state-of-the-art tech center in Akron, Ohio. Bridgestone announced the construction back in 2008 after choosing Akron, though it had thought about its own home base of Nashville, Tennessee. The building should be completed by the end of 2011. Mark Emkes, chairman, CEO and president of Bridgestone Americas (who has announced his retirement for next February 28), declared that there was no better place for the manufacturer to continue its proud tradition of innovation that in Akron.
