Asphalt Rubber Tested in Puerto Rico

Chicago-based Phoenix Industries LLC is a manufacturer of waste tire recycling plants and asphalt rubber blending equipment that believes that if only 5% of North American roads were paved with asphalt rubber, there would be no more waste tire problems on our continent. To prove its point, it has completed a pilot project to apply asphalt rubber to a section of Highway PR 10 near Ponce, in Puerto Rico. The length of road paved is short, less than half a kilometre, but it is enough to introduce the technology to Puerto Rico. Next up is a similar project in the Dominican Republic. Phoenix Recycling Technologies, a subsidiary of Phoenix Industries LLC, recently opened a $ 5.5 million facility in Las Vegas. (ED)
