Alcoa Introduces a New Line of Lighter Truck Wheels

Alcoa’s Commercial Vehicle Wheels business has launched a new line of forged aluminium truck wheels that are two pounds lighter than existing products. Indeed, Alcoa’s new LvL One forged aluminium wheel was launched last week at the Mid-America Trucking Show in Louisville, Kentucky. Alcoa says that truckers can save up to 50 pounds per set of wheels with its new product, compared to current aluminium wheels, and 600 pounds or more compared to steel wheels. Incidentally, Alcoa also says that its new LvL One wheel is as strong as ever while a current 22.5x8.25 wheel weighing 45.5 pounds is rated at 7,400 pounds of load. (ED)
