As you may all know, the trusty Crown Victoria police car’s production is weeks from ending. The replacement is a duo, known as Interceptor Sedan and Interceptor Utility, schedule to arrive in February 2012.
These new offerings from Ford share a common architecture and many regular maintenance items. This means special forces across the country will only need to stock one type of brake pads, brake disks and tries/wheels combo for both, helping keep cost down for fleet managers. Both the Sedan and the Utility are based on production vehicles, the Taurus and the Explorer, which also means easy access to replacement parts.
Prices for these two Interceptor models have yet to be released. “We still need to iron out a few details before being able to finalize pricing , but it will be available very soon” said Ford Motor Company of Canada’s Steve Ross to police forces representatives attending two special test sessions at Mosport (Toronto, On) and I-Car (Mirabel, Qc).
