Volkswagen Canada’s year end with a sales increase

Volkswagen Canada announced an increase of its sales for 2009 compared to 2008, with a total of 40,059 new vehicles sold compared to 40,026 in 2008 and that, even if the Canadian market lost a little more than 10% of its sales last year. Also, Volkswagen Canada announced that it had increased its market share by 2.7%. What helped fire such sales is the arrival of the new Volkswagen Golf family of cars and the availability of the new TDI clean diesel engine in the Touareg, Jetta, Golf, and Golf wagon. The arrival of the all-new Tiguan SUV and Routan minivan also helped Volkswagen Canada acquire sales shares in market segments that are new for Volkswagen. (ED)
