Toyota to Achieve 70% Production In June

Toyota Global President Akio Toyoda told reporters at a financial briefing in Japan on Wednesday May 11, 2011 that the company should reach approximately 70 per cent of normal production in both Japan and overseas plants in June: 1-2 months earlier than it had announced on April 22. He said the improved outlook is due to the “tremendous” joint efforts of suppliers and the company to speed up the recovery.

Since the situation differs by specific region and model, Toyoda said the company was unable to say whether it will be able to speed up the return to full production earlier than November or December as previously announced.

He added that the company would endeavour to stay on schedule regarding the introduction of new models like the Camry as well as the fall opening of the Mississippi Corolla plant.
