Thursday, April 08, 2010 The Volkswagen Polo Named World Car of the Year
 The World Car of the Year award was unveiled on April 1 at the New York Auto Show. Chosen by a panel of 59 journalists from around the world (including Canada), the small Volkswagen Polo, which is not yet sold in North America, won over the two other finalists, the Mercedes-Benz C-Class and the Toyota Prius. Among other awards, the Audi R8 V10 was named Performance Car of the Year (the Porsche 911 GT3 and the Ferrari California being the two other finalists), the VW line of Blue Motion cars was chosen as Green car of the Year (the Honda Insight and the Toyota Prius being the two other finalists), and the Chevrolet Camaro won the Design of the Year award over the Citroën C3 Picasso and the Kia Soul.
