Monday, October 05, 2009 Subaru to Unveil Its Hybrid Prototype
Japanese auto maker Subaru is about to unveil its prototype of a hybrid vehicle at the Tokyo Motor Show. Subaru’s Hybrid Tourer Concept car features a 2.0-litre four-cylinder, horizontally opposed, direct fuel-injection turbocharged engine combined to an electric system that should give a 50% improvement in fuel economy. It will be combined to a new Lineartronic automatic transmission and start-and-stop technology. Obviously, this Subaru will be all-wheel driven and powered by a lithium ion battery. The concept car showing the hybrid technology will have a gull-wing door on each side that opens to the front and rear seats. (ED)
