Small Communities Key to Success of Transit Vision 2040

"We've come to Grande Prairie to see firsthand what public transit does, and can do, for a community like this," Michael Roschlau, CUTA President and CEO. "We're also so pleased to be here to help you continue the celebrations of your transit system's successes on this, your 30th  anniversary!"

CUTA held a news conference in Grande Prairie Alberta on September 20 to highlight the important link between Transit Vision 2040 and transit in smaller Canadian communities. Members of the CUTA Executive Committee selected Grande Prairie to host the annual business planning and strategy meetings.

"The province of Alberta's approval for GreenTRIP funding here in Grande Prairie has been designated for the purchase of 4 new accessible low floor buses - 2 for service expansion and 2 to replace older vehicles with new and cleaner technology," notes Roschlau, linking the funding to the importance to service expansion in the city.  "This will increase the number of buses from 20 to 22 and will make the system fully accessible."

CUTA also took the occasion to highlight the link between transit in smaller Canadian communities and Transit Vision 2040. The vision is intended to define a future where public transit maximizes its contribution to quality of life.
