One year after refocusing its brand strategy on Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Cadillac, General Motors of Canada posted retail sales growth of 26.4 percent for calendar year 2010. The results were bolstered by strong December retail sales for the four brands, up over 24 percent, and total sales up 16.9 percent on delivery of 20,160 vehicles.
For 2010, GM sold a total of 247,104 vehicles, 50,968 of these being fleet sales.
Chevrolet car and truck retail sales grew 24 percent in December, led by a record month for the Canadian-built Equinox. Fuel-efficient small cars also performed well, including strong sales for the all-new award-winning Cruze.
Buick continued to increase its momentum, posting retail gains of 42 percent in December. This growth was led primarily by its award-winning cars, up 96 percent, including Regal and LaCrosse.
GMC, led by the Ingersoll-built Terrain, delivered retail sales increases of 22 percent, while Cadillac retail sales grew almost 23 percent, led by SRX.
