OPENLANE Reports Canadian Pre-Owned Values Showing Annual Strength



During June, auction prices showed double-digit year-over-year increases for all segments in Canada except for SUVs, according to the latest OPENLANE Market Index. Trucks improved the most, up 24 percentage points from June 2009. Car values are up 14 percentage points and minivans improved 13 percentage points from a year ago. The exception was SUVs, which are down 2% from last June. Dealer interest in vehicles shows a different pattern. Cars showed the largest year-over-year increase at the dealer level, up 3 percentage points. Minivan interest was down 18% from a year ago, but climbed 8 points from May. Dealer interest in both trucks and SUVs were slightly up from last year. Overall, pre-owned vehicle values continue to improve since last year. (LB)
