Nissan in the N.A. Commercial Truck Business

Nissan is getting into the commercial truck business in North America as it is right now in just about any other part of the world. To do so, it has shown the production prototype of its first major vehicle to be produced and used in Canada and the U.S., the NV. This full size truck will be available starting next fall as a delivery van in the usual 1500, 2500, and 3500 series with a 55- or 76-inch high body. Two engine will power the rear-wheel drive NV, a 4.0-litre V6 or a 5.6-litre V8. The only transmission offered will be a five-speed automatic. Later, Nissan is expected to offer a smaller delivery van to compete with Ford’s Transit Connect, the NV 200. (ED)
