Monday, March 28, 2011 More Biofuel Availability With Expanded Suncor Ethanol Production
Suncor Energy's newly expanded St. Clair ethanol plant has been lauded by The Canadian Renewable Fuels Association as proof of the tangible benefits of developing home grown renewable fuels in Canada.
The $120-million expansion of Suncor's St. Clair Ethanol Plant will double the plant's production capacity from 200 to 400 million litres annually, helping bring more Ethanol-based fuels to fleets and to the general public.
Today 5% of the gasoline that Canadians pump into their vehicles comes from renewable green sources harvested and produced across Canada. A 2% renewable fuels standard is expected to be enacted for biodiesel in the coming months.
