Monday, March 29, 2010 Is This Tomorrow’s Car?
GM will unveil very different concept cars at the upcoming Shanghai World Expo that begins on May 1. Actually, it is difficult to call them cars. They are already categorized as personal urban transportation. Three of these vehicles will be unveiled under the name EN-V for Electric Networked-Vehicles. Their construction will be made of a mix of carbon-fibre and custom-tinted Lexan and acrylic. Each EN-V will weigh around 1,100 pounds and will be able to carry two passengers. Developed with the help of GM’s Chinese partner Shanghai Automotive Industry Corp. Group (SAIC), the EN-Vs are designed to meet the prediction by 2030 of about 60% of the world population, estimated at eight billion by that time and concentrated in urban areas. (ED)
