GM Might Return to Leasing in the U.S.

According to Reuters, GM is planning to return to the vehicle lease business soon but only at about 5% of its vehicle sales. Now that GMAC won the approval to operate as a bank and with the $5 billion offered by the U.S. government, GM could allow some leasing to some needed segments, but in a limited way in a more profitable and sustainable business model. In other words, don’t expect 25% of GM vehicles to be leased as in the past. The Canadian market was not mentioned here. (ED)
