Thursday, February 19, 2009 GM, an Environmentally Conscious Manufacturer
General Motors already builds more environmentally friendly vehicles than any other manufacturers in the world—it has eighteen 2009 models that achieve 30-miles per gallon or better fuel economy on the highway. In the case of more traditional cars, we can mention the 2009 Chevrolet Malibu and Saturn Aura running conventional four-cylinder gas-powered engines combined with a six-speed automatic transmission that yield better fuel economy than their imported competitors. Cadillac has its hybrid electric or Active Fuel management-powered Escalades, while Chevrolet and GMC have similarly equipped pick-up trucks and SUVs. Many GM vehicles are real gas sippers such as the smaller Pontiac G3 or the Chevy Aveo or even Pontiac’s 4-cylinder, six-speed automatic G6, the 2.0T Saab 9-3 and Sport Combi or even the XFE Cobalt, G5, Tahoe, Silverado and GMC siblings. Then there are the Stop and Start Malibu, Saturn Aura and Vue and even the Two Mode Hybrid Vue, Silverado, Tahoe, Sierra and Yukon ! Even the mighty Corvette with the LS3 6.2L V-8 Corvette can get better than 37 miles to the gallon on the highway! How about Cobalt SS and HHR SS and Panel SS compact vehicles yielding better than 40 mpg? Soon, Chevrolet will be offering the totally electric Volt family car. (ED)
