Ford to Build a Taxi Version of the Transit Connect

Ford announced at the Chicago Auto Show that it would start producing a genuine taxi version of its recent Transit Connect compact truck. Not only will the Connect be ready for the job but Ford will also offer it with engines running Compressed Natural Gas or Liquid Propane Gas for fuel. In its taxi version, the (optional) rear seat will be set back another three inches for passenger comfort. Ford intends to keep the actual 2.0-litre four-cylinder engine in the light truck. The taxi version of the Connect will soon be offered as a 2011 model. (ED)
