Monday, May 11, 2009 Ford’s Green Efforts
Ford recently entered into a partnership with Johnson Controls-Saft, a battery maker who plans to build its first U.S. cell manufacturing facility for lithium-ion battery systems in Holland, Michigan. These batteries will power Ford’s first commercial plug-in hybrid electric vehicle (PHEV), a van called Transit Connect, which should come out in 2010; an all battery electric-powered passenger car in 2011; and next-generation hybrid electric vehicles (HEV) in 2012.
