Thursday, May 07, 2009 Ford Launches a New Fusion
Ford of Canada launched a new and revised version of its very popular Fusion in Québec City last week. Though the body remains the same, the front end was redone and the rear end was refreshed. The interior was also updated. The base engine in the 2010 Fusion is a 2.5L four-cylinder powerplant that develops 175 horsepower and it can be mated to a 6-speed manual or automatic transmission and front wheel drive. There are two optional V6s in the catalogue, a 3.0L version that yields 240 horsepower or a new 3.5L that pumps out 263 horsepower in the Sport version only. Both are coupled to a 6-speed automatic transmission and front-wheel drive but the all-wheel drive option is available. New for 2010 is a hybrid-electric version of the Fusion. Power comes from a 2.5L four-cylinder engine coupled to an electric motor and combined to an eCVT transmission with front wheel drive. Total horsepower rating is 191. Base price for a Fusion is $21,499, the SE V6 Fleet model goes for $26, 699, and the hybrid is $31,999. (ED)
