Ford finally launches the North American Fiesta

Ford has finally proceeded with the official media launch of its long-awaited Fiesta sub-compact car. As promised, the car is almost exactly the same as the European and Asian versions, but other than the international five-door hatchback model, North-American buyers will also have the choice of a four-door sedan. The only engine available, for the moment, is a 1.6-litre four-cylinder power plant mated to a traditional five-speed manual transmission or an all-new for North America six-speed dual-clutch (automatic) transmission. Canadian prices begin at $12,999 (S sedan without A/C). Éric Trépanier, Canadian marketing manager also told us that the car will be on the market at the end of May. Ford expects the car to have a fuel consumption of 7.1 L/100 km city, 5.3 highway with the manual transmission and ironically, 6.9 L/100 km city and 5.1 highway for the six-speed PowerShift automatic.
