 Registered with the Canada Green Building Council, the Stratford Toyota facility is the first automotive dealership in the country to achieve Gold Certification in the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED®) Green Building Rating System.
The brand new 26,100 square foot Toyota dealership goes above and beyond to exceed customer expectations, while at the same time reducing its environmental footprint. It is the first Toyota dealership in Canada to achieve LEED Certification.
Among many other efforts, Stratford Toyota took the following steps to meet the strict LEED Gold Certification criteria:
• Over 28% of the construction materials were of a recycled nature;
• Diverted over 97% of all construction waste (over 100 metric tonnes) from landfill;
• Energy conservation technologies were incorporated into the facility design resulting in a reduction of energy consumption by 37% compared to a typical building of the same size;
• Integrated an 8,000 litre storm water cistern recapturing system;
• Total water use has been reduced by over 84%;
• Installation of a Thermoplastic Polyolefin (TPO) roof that repels heat in summer and insulates during winter
Beyond sustainable mobility alone, Toyota also recognizes the need to achieve harmony between industry and the environment - Canadian Toyota dealerships like Stratford Toyota are part of these efforts.
