Tuesday, January 27, 2009 Fiat-Chrysler Deal Is Good News
When the Fiat-Chrysler deal will be finalized next April, chances are we will see some of the Italian car maker’s vehicles on our market in a close future. Chrysler dealers will then sell and service the cars, which will mostly be compacts, sub-compacts, and even minicars—vehicles that Chrysler badly needs. Among those are cars like the Fiat 500, the Alfa Romeo MiTo and a car based on Fiat’s C-Evo platform which could replace the actual Caliber. Then, Fiat could develop a lengthened C-Evo platform as a base for the replacement of the Chrysler Sebring and the Dodge Avenger. Fiat’s arrival would also allow Chrysler to use its small diesel engines and Fiat to sell Jeep products in Europe and South America. A combination of both companies would mean an annual world production of more than 5,386,000 vehicles, making it the fifth most important auto manufacturer in the automotive field.
