Thursday, April 15, 2010 End of the Line for Hummer
General Motors has finally announced it—the Hummer brand is no more. Although the American giant considered other offers to buy Hummer after the deal to sell the brand to Chinese Sichuan Tengzhong Heavy Industrial Machinery failed because the Chinese government did not approve it, GM decided it had to be closed. To clear out the remaining new 2,200 Hummers still in stock, GM will run incentives until the end of April. Hummer H2s were built by AM General on GM mechanicals, while GM built the H3s out of its own light truck plant. (ED)
