Wheels, Inc.announced the results of the inaugural EcoWheels Green Driver Challenge, a program that enlisted 2,970 corporate fleet vehicle drivers to pledge to incorporate sustainable driving habits into their daily routines. Developed by Wheels, it launched in conjunction with Earth Day. It elicited pledges whose actions are equivalent to saving 2,104,904 kg in CO2 emissions, or the equivalent of 341,787 trees planted.
The EcoWheels Green Driver Challenge educated participating drivers and encouraged them to adopt good driving habits, reduce idling time, regularly check tire pressure, reducing reduce cargo load, etc. Employees who pledged to incorporate these habits into their daily driving routine were informed of the impact of each pledge in total CO2 emissions saved. Forty-one different North American corporate fleets were represented in the EcoWheels Green Driver Challenge, including SimplexGrinnell, Wheels’ spotlight customer for the program.
While the program has ended, Wheels will continue to circulate information to its customers and their drivers so they can make smart, environmentally sound driving decisions year-round.
