AMO Award Presented to Town of Markham

The Association of Municipalities of Ontario (AMO) presented the Peter J. Marshall Award Certificates of Merit on September 29 to the Town of Markham and EcoMedia Direct for the commitment to “zero waste” at public events and civic centre waste diversion. “Zero waste may not be a literal target, but by aiming for zero, we are making much greater progress and gaining a clearer vision of how we can significantly reduce our future waste, and help Markham become a more sustainable community,” said Markham Mayor Frank Scarpitti. The Peter J. Marshall Award is an annual competitive process organized by AMO to acknowledge municipalities who have demonstrated leadership and innovation in public-private partnerships. (LB)
