A station wagon concept for Mercedes-Benz

Most Europeans call them Shooting Breaks, North-Americans call them ‘station wagons’. Nonetheless, German automaker Mercedes-Benz is unveiling a car of that configuration at the 2010 Beijing Auto Show. This is only a concept car, but already its design gives us a hint of what the upcoming redesigned CLS sedan will look like. If this wagon goes into production, it will be priced as a direct competitor to BMW’s 5-Series Gran Turismo. Under the hood is a new 3.5-litre direct-injection V-6 that develops 306 horsepower and 273 ft-lb of torque. This engine is part of the new ‘MoVe’ family of Mercedes-Benz engines with direct injection and eventually turbocharging.
