Wholesale Vehicle Market in 2008



Falling gas prices, downward pressure on the Canadian dollar, the credit crisis, and the global recession all affected the Canadian wholesale used vehicle market in 2008. With the drop in gas prices during the second quarter, wholesale SUV and pickup prices showed signs of recovery. Meanwhile, Canadian dealers purchased fewer U.S. vehicles in the third and fourth quarters because of the lowering Canadian dollar. However, recent, high priced American vehicles were still popular for Canadian buyers sourcing inventory in the U.S. (FC)
